Oudtshoorn bids beloved Dr. Piedt farewell

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of beloved and honoured Dr David Arthur Piedt (born 21 March 1940) on 27 July 2020.

Despite being very health conscious, Dr Piedt could not evade the aggressive attack of the Covid-19 virus.

He suddenly fell ill two weeks ago, after which he was admitted to the Mediclinic Klein Karoo in Oudtshoorn. From here, he was transferred to the Mediclinic George’s intensive care unit, where he passed away as a result of further medical complications.

Dr Piedt is respected and remembered for his fight against injustice and inhumanity. He was known for his devout Christian beliefs and high moral values.

It is difficult to imagine a Klein Karoo and Southern Cape without David Piedt.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, son Deon and two daughters Che and Tracey who both live abroad, as well as four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held in the Volkskerk in Oudtshoorn on Tuesday, 4 August at 11:00. Proceedings will take place according to strict Covid-19 measures and attendance is limited to family and close friends, who will be notified by the family soon.

To ensure that everyone who knew Dr Piedt can pay homage to him, the funeral will be broadcasted digitally on the KKNK’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/KKNKfees/.
